Got to Go?

After a few complaints about my lack of blogging (sorry Mariah) I thought I would stop and do a little write up. I have so much to cover from the last few months, due to a laptop failure and the incompetence of more than a few Staples employees, that I'm not even going to attempt to play catch up at this time.

Instead I'm going to post about my much improved bathroom.

Sorry there are no Before Pictures...

This is a project that was started months ago finished before July and only now do I have time to write about it. For anyone who talks to me on a regular basis it will not surprise you that since buying our home we have had more than one or two or even three things break. One of these was the toilet seals in both of our upstairs bathrooms. The flooring had been replaced, but the seals never had. Both toilets decided to leak down to our main floor ceilings. That meant I got the opportunity to try my hand at fixing drywall and texturing. Turns out, I'm a natural! Ü I started with the main floor bathroom, figuring that if I was going to mess it up at least it was a small space. The ceiling turned out so well that I decided to texture the walls.

Can you tell how awesome this looks? I love it! The only problem was that the old fixtures, towels, and rugs now looked, just that ... OLD! So I went shopping and at the pottery barn outlet found towels and rugs.
Everything was still not quite right, so I got new towel racks and a new toilet paper holder in that great Brushed Bronze. They looked amazing, but totally clashed with the chrome light fixture and faucet, so they had to go too. I am now left with a beautiful new bathroom that I was only able to enjoy for a few moments before Mark decided to check for mold at the other leakage spot in our family room ceiling. NO MOLD. He was kind enough to buy me some new drywall and replace the hole (which our family had lovingly began to call the not working skylight). I am now in the process of texturing the ceiling that runs from the family room through the kitchen and down the hallway. On a happy note we had a friend give us an amazing (new to us) ceiling fan. Score! Plus, we are getting rid of this ugly kitchen light and putting in some much improved understated recessed lighting.
