Daisy's 7

If we are known for anything it is celebrating everything and when the dog's birthday comes around it is no different. We spoil her to the point of making her sick and tired. After all shes not a young pup anymore. Daisy's day began with fresh dog food. Then it was off to Red Bud Isle for a morning of swimming and playing with friends.

It is hard for a dog to hold still when there is so much to see.

This stick was in high demand by many of the dogs at the park.

Austin chose not to swim this year, but still enjoyed putting her feet in.

Shortly after this picture the clothes came off revealing a swimsuit and Reagan went in.

After spending a few hours at the lake we headed over to the Bee Cave Park where we all enjoyed ice cream, while Daisy had her very own Frosty Paws. We then headed home where Austin gave Daisy a bath and Reagan and Hallie gave her a good brushing. The kids loved on her the rest of the day with tons of doggie treats (even one from Rocky Mountain Candy Factory). SPOILED, but how we love her.

Thank you for being the world's most patient dog. Thank you for never getting mad when I poke you in the eye, ride on your back, steal your bone and laugh, grab your tail, or dress you in my clothes. Daisyism ... "World's Greatest Dog"

Anyone who knows me even a little knows that I believe Daisy to be the "World's Greatest Dog." She comes when I call her, never gets on the furniture, can hold her bladder forever, doesn't bark in the house, loves baths and puts up with my kids climbing all over her and even taking away her favorite bone or toy. Sometime I think she is a little picked on, but she loves the kids and looks at them as her puppies. I've always thought she would be the best mother. We even talked about it for a long time, but in the end decided against it.

Something new happened this week that proved without a doubt that Daisy is the Greatest. Caitlyn and Austin are babysitting a puppy. It is a cute ball of fluff, but like all puppies requires a lot of attention. I prepared the girls for all the responsibility that caring for a puppy takes, but none of us counted on Daisy helping out. We have the dog tethered to the freezer, so that if by chance he does have an accident (like puppies do) it won't be on my carpet. Here's where Daisy steps in ... she has laid on the floor letting the puppy climb all over her, wrestled with it, brought it toys (and when the toys are to big for the puppy's mouth and slipped away she has brought them back). She has allowed it to eat and drink from her bowl and even let him chew on her new bone.

We all have been pleasantly surprised how well they have gotten on, but today was the biggest surprise. I rushed home from church to let the puppy out hoping to avoid an accident and discovered that the puppy had pulled his tether free. Luckily for us Daisy was on the watch. She picked up the leash in her mouth and walked the puppy. Keeping him close to her and out of trouble. I couldn't believe it and I knew no one else would either, so i took pictures of exactly what I found. NOW THAT IS A GREAT DOG!

What Do We Do When Halloween Lands On A Sunday?

We attended the Ward trunk or treat...

"Caitlyn and Austin won for most visited trunk...because of ME!"(Colin)
"We won a cookie jar in a bag. It was awesome" (Austin)

We woke up early to walk the dog at the Annual Dog Walk and Parade

"I think 8:30 is too early for me to get up and walk the dog." (Caitlyn)

Mom makes a special pumpkin squash soup and rolls with Pecan Pumpkin Butter

Mark taught us about Halloween's beginning. Did you know it is the oldest Holiday?


We finished our book about a scary bunny named "Bunnicula." "Way funny!" (Reagan) "Can I take the book to bed?"(Austin)

We have Pumpkin Bars for dessert.




We make Mr. Potato Head Pumpkins.

We decorate the upstairs playroom.

We read and tell some stories about our ancestors.

We have a great time with our spider toss game.

We eat candy from around the world.

We gorge ourselves on candy and

We watch "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown."

One Amazing Pooch

I know it' s been a while since I last posted and there really is a ton to catch up on, but I couldn't not blog about our wonder dog's birthday. That's right yesterday was Ms. Daisy Diggs birthday. She is officially four years old and has been with our family for three of those years. She is the perfect addition to our family and a wonderful friend. She is so patient and kind to the kids. They test this theory a little too often and she always stays faithful.

Our Daisy loves to be the center of attention and if you say her name or call her to you she is always up for a belly rub or an ear scratch, but she is also just as content to lay near by and take a little nap. She doesn't bark when people come to the door, but if she is outside she barks hello to all the other dogs, squirrels, birds or sometimes people she sees. Daisy loves the water. She is the only dog I know that enjoys a bath. If you leave the bath tub full and unattended you will find her in it. She never jumps on people, but she has been known to jump on the trampoline with the kids. When she first came to be with us she was scared to death of the car and would shake and whine anytime we took her for a ride, now she runs to the van, finds her spot and waits patiently for her trip. She loves walks and gets excited at the sight of my tennis shoes or her lease, but she would prefer to go running. She never poops on our walks or runs, so there is no need for me to carry a baggie. Daisy is a beautiful dog and she loves us, which she shows us everyday. Not even Mark can deny her charms. Though she does equal extra work she is worth it. WE LOVE YOU DAISY!
