That Time of the Month

Warning: This post may make some men uncomfortable, though it was written with the subjects' approval.
For most of our friends today was the day Prince William and His bride Kate were married. Many of our friends woke at 4AM to watch the festivities or at least set their DVRs to record it, but for the Christiansen Family we had a different kind of celebration. This morning brought a rite of passage to our own Princess Cait. To say that we were surprised is an understatement, but once the surprise had worn off it was time to enjoy this first. After all the first visit of our "Every 28 Days" friend only comes once. (Caitlyn would like to add that the moon spins around the earth on a 28 day cycle and before Julius Cesar thought 13 was unlucky our Calendar was on a 13 month 28 day cycle.)

I had all sorts of ideas of how this day was supposed to be spent, but none of them included school. Too bad for us that the attendance police were already on patrol for our family, after our week of playing hooky in California. Therefore Cait and I had a lot of Women partying to fit into a few short hours. How did we spend our mother daughter bonding time you ask? Well, we ate Blood Red Manacotii, at the Hill Country Pasta house, where I gave Cait a present full of helpful things (a purse to carry, gum, Tylenol, and brightly colored Kotex, in every size). Then we were off to do a little shopping for a new outfit and jewelery (after all every woman needs jewery). Thank goodness for her ear piecing last summer. We walked all around the mall, talked and ended up at Amy's Ice Cream. By then it was getting late, so we headed home where we gave each other pedicures and watched a movie. I know that every month will not be as fun as the first, but maybe the rainbow of colors that Kotex carries will reminder her that her crazy mother loves her and growing up isn't so bad.

I'm laughing so hard. I saw that you had a new blog, and before I even saw the title, I was thinking, "Please tell me she did NOT blog about that!" And you did! You crack me up, Tara! I love it, though!
